After completing her Masters (MA) in Lighting Design, Performance and Choreography, on a scholarship from the University of New York (NYU 1987-90), Eleftheria Deko continued to work there as a lighting designer at several theatres, until 1992, when she returned to Greece.

She has lit more than 300 performances for theatre, music, dance, opera and virtual installations, to excellent critical acclaim. She has worked with most of the major theatre companies, in Athens and the rest of Greece, and she has often been invited by foreign groups to light dance performances at international festivals.

She has taught Lighting Designing at the University of New York (NYU 1990-92) and given seminars in theatre lighting for professionals and amateurs in Athens (1997-1999). This year she is teaching at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in the Theatre Studies Department

An important moment of her career was her participation at the Olympic Games ATHENS 2004, as Lighting Manager and Designer of the Opening and Closing Ceremonies.
